Requirements:

Title: Sr Oracle DBA
Location: Irving, TX
Duration: 1 Yr+ Contract

JOB SUMMARY

The Database Administrator is expected to administer, monitor, and maintain the Oracle databases infrastructure. Additionally, this resource will utilize Data Services policies and procedures for ensuring the security and integrity of the Oracle database environment. 
Tasks to be performed will include implementing and maintaining Oracle instances; resolving database performance issues, database capacity planning, implement database schemas and objects, and configure backups.

The DBA must ensure a quality implementation of new database systems and the consistent, efficient operation of existing database systems. Provides technical expertise and consulting services to the Metlife Home Loans development teams. 


JOB REQUIREMENTS (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
Experience supporting Oracle database environments.
Strong UNIX skills including shell programming, cron, korn shell, and a general understanding of the UNIX AIX operating system.
Must have strong Oracle database administration experience.(Versions 9i, 10g, 11g)
Experience with SQL Server 2000/2005 database administration a plus.
In-depth knowledge of Oracle backup/recovery techniques
Excellent communication and customer service skills.

• Oracle database architecture and design
• Strong knowledge of Oracle Internals

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Database Management
• Startup/Shutdown – database & listener whenever required
• Tablespace management
• Object and Schema Creation
• Storage Management
• Database configuration and tuning
Storage Management
• Create & Manage data files, table spaces
• Perform database storage capacity management 
• Online & offline defragmentation
• Internal database space management
• Reorganize specific database objects, tables spaces etc.,
Database Backups
• Install and configure database related backup/recovery tools 
• Maintain & update/upgrade specific Database backup/recovery tools 
• Create/configure/Execute Database backup
• Monitor daily Database backups, exports, archiving
Release Management
• Test new releases for database instances
• Prepare installation documentation for database release upgrades
• Execute database upgrades (installation and configuration)
• Building and Configuration new databases
Install New Instances
• Installation of database Software (system tables)
• Creation and Configuration of the database instance
• Building and Configuration of new servers required for Database management
• Sizing datafiles/tablespaces/file groups
• Root cause analysis and performance tuning
• Suggestions on Consolidation of database
• Process compliance
• Data Security Compliance
• Initiate Change Request
• Implement change



JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION: B. S. Degree (Business or Information Technology) 

EXPERIENCE:
Minimum 10 years general IT in development, database engineering, or database administration.
Minimum 8 years Oracle database administration
Minimum 3 years SQL Server database administration
